Bibliography

This is a novel.

It is not supposed to be factual. Insofar as the gospel record is factual (and I suppose you have gathered by now that I believe it is), the novel is at many levels based on fact. To what degree that it is or is not, I leave to the generosity--and faith--of my reader.

Ordinarily, bibliographies are not found with works of fiction. Since, however, some who open the covers of this volume may be students of theology and/or the scriptures, it is assumed that they may wish to know what works of knowledge and research helped shape the theology and ideas found in the present volume. Such a list of books would reach into the hundreds. This should not be too surprising since I am 76 years old (2012) and have spent virtually each day of my adult life in such books.

So the following list is partial and represents those works which have contributed the most toward the formation of the thoughts in this work. It is hoped that the reader might understand that this body of literature helped with the basics. Some of them affirming and supportive, some of them adverse. Some scholarly works of reference, some language helps, some history or some themselves works of fiction. But for whatever their merit or lack thereof, they represent only the pegs upon which I have hung my imagination.

The Internet. This book was begun in 1995, just when the Internet was beginning to encompass the world. In the passing of these many years since, I have consulted only God knows how many websites, sent and received countless emails--all in an effort to research and seek the knowledge and perspectives of others. Some of it was a waste of time; some of it a magnificent investment of energy. Most of it was in between.
